Park Centre is a welcoming youth and community venue in the heart of Burgess Hill, offering affordable hall hire, stage hire, and meeting room hire for events, classes, workshops, parties, and community groups. Whether you need a large hall with a stage, a meeting room, or a flexible space for clubs and activities, we have the right option for you.
All spaces include Wi-Fi, tables, and chairs, with extras such as kitchen facilities, a smartboard and support with advertising via our website and social media pages available.
We also offer discounted rates for charities and regular weekly hire.

Booking Terms and Conditions
Section One
We will provide you with a building induction prior to starting at Park Centre.
The use of facilities is subject to the conditions for hire as set out. If the application for hire is confirmed, you must agree to accept and comply with the terms of the Conditions and that the Application, and the Confirmation form a contract between Park Centre and the hirer.
The hirer will also undertake to ensure that:
* All persons entering the site during the period of hire are bona fide members of your organisation or group.
* All health and safety and fire regulations and safeguarding procedures including relevant DBS Checks are adhered to and that all persons entering the site are made conversant with the Fire Regulations and evacuation routes.
* No illegal or dangerous equipment, materials or substances will be brought on to the property and that no illegal activities are carried out on the property.
* That we will adhere to the ‘No Smoking’ and ‘No Vaping’ policy in all parts of the premises and grounds.
*The premises will be left in a clean and tidy condition, returning furniture to its normal position, taking away any items, food stuffs and rubbish which we have brought in or created.
* The use of internet by our members is appropriate.
* All damages to the building or resources will be reported immediately to the Park Centre Building Manager by email to info@parkcentre.org.uk
* A risk assessment for the service / activities booked and copy of insurance/ any relevant licences will be returned with this Booking Request and Hire Agreement Form. The risk assessment will need to include (but not exclusively) any equipment we will bring on site (e.g., is it PAT tested?), what First Aid arrangements are in place, how we will manage to keep our service users safe, including when there is a fire, how the situation is managed if service users are not under direct supervision of group leaders.
* When there are no Park Centre staff present, all locking up procedures will be the responsibility of the hirer, and the building is to be left secure.
* Confidentiality for all building codes and the return of keys to the key safe.
We will be always responsible for the behaviour of the members of our organisation or group.
*Park Centre reserves the right to cancel any booking without notice as a result of changes of circumstances beyond its control, or if circumstances or adverse weather conditions affect the use of the grounds or premises.
Section Two
This agreement is made between Park Centre (the owner of the Premises) and the Hirer subject to the following terms and conditions:
1. Hirers shall satisfy themselves that the Premises to be hired are suitable for their purposes.
2. The use of the Premises must not interfere with the proper working of any aspect of Park Centre or impair its efficiency.
3. The Premises may only be used for the Approved Use at the Date and Times of Use set out above.
4. The contract for the Hire of the Premises between the Hirer and Park Centre shall take effect only upon written acceptance of the application on behalf of Park Centre being posted or handed to the Hirer.
5. The Hirer shall be responsible for the safe custody of the keys and key safe codes and ensure that the keys are returned to Park Centre at the end of the hire period or as reasonably requested. The Hirer shall immediately report the loss or misplacement of any keys to Park Centre. Where the Hirer loses or damages any keys, Park Centre may replace such keys and arrange for the replacement of locks, forcing any subsequent replacement of doors/gates (as appropriate) and Park Centre’s costs in dealing with the same shall be recoverable from the Hirer.
6. The Hirer shall affect adequate insurance in respect of any liabilities, loss, or damage in accordance with the provisions of the Appendix to this agreement.
7. Park Centre does NOT hold licences for:
a) public dancing, music or any other public entertainment
b) public performance of plays.
8. The Hirer shall be responsible for obtaining any licence from Mid-Sussex District Council and shall produce the licence for inspection prior to the hiring date. The Hirer shall be responsible for complying with the terms of any such licence.
9. The Hirer shall be responsible for complying with the legislation relating to copyright in respect of the hiring and with the requirements of the Performing Rights society Limited and Phonographic Performance Limited concerning the performance respectively of musical work and sound recordings on the Premises. The Hirer hereby indemnifies Park Centre against any breach of this condition.
10. No intoxicating liquor may be brought on to the Premises.
11. The Hirer shall be responsible for ensuring that any gaming or lottery that takes place on the Premises complies with the relevant legislation.
12. Use of the Premises is limited to the accommodation hired and necessary facilities such as toilets. Car parking is permitted in the designated area of Premises subject to availability. We advise all users to park in the Cyprus Road Car Park when possible.
13. Where permission is given for the use of kitchen areas, this will include resources and equipment as discussed. Kitchens must be left in a clean and tidy condition for use the following day. On no account may foodstuffs stored in kitchens be used by Hirers.
14. The Hirer is responsible for the preservation of good order during the hiring. Any hiring to which the public are admitted or if the event is a children’s entertainment attended by more than 50 children, the Hirer shall provide an adequate number of stewards who shall be present throughout the hiring. Park Centre reserve the right to require a member of staff to be in attendance for the preservation of good order and safety and to recover from the Hirer any additional expenses incurred as a result of this condition.
15. The Hirer will be required to confirm that policy checks have been carried out on any persons who will have unsupervised access to children and/or young people or other vulnerable persons during the period of the hiring.
16. Suitable footwear which will not damage the floors of the Premises must be worn on the Premises particularly where the Premises have uncovered wooden flooring.
17. No nails or screws shall be driven into walls, floors, ceilings, furniture or fittings, and no placards shall be affixed to any part of the Premises.
18. The laying of composition or other preparation on floors is prohibited, unless given prior written approval of Park Centre.
19. No smoking or vaping is allowed on the Premises.
20. Any alteration or addition to the lighting or electrical heating systems of the Premises or the buildings of which they form part is strictly forbidden, except with the written consent of Park Centre. Consent may be subject to conditions, which the Hirer will be required to observe.
21. If any special equipment is required, it must be clearly stated on the application form. An extra charge may be made for this service and Park Centre must be satisfied that the use of the equipment is supervised by a competent person.
22. No function shall extend beyond the hiring period and the Hirer shall completely vacate the Premises by that time, unless special arrangements have been agreed on behalf of Park Centre.
23. After use, the Hirer must leave the Premises in a clean and tidy condition, remove the Hirer’s property and rubbish, ensure all appliances are switched off and lighting extinguished. Park Centre reserve the right to recover from the Hirer any additional expenses incurred as a result of non-compliance with this condition.
24. Park Centre reserves the right to cancel any hiring without notice if:
i) the accommodation will, due to circumstances outside their control, be unavailable for the hire period, or
ii) the Hirer has failed to disclose material information concerning the proposed hiring, or
iii) there are reasonable grounds to conclude that the Conditions of Hire may be breached to a material extent.
iv) the Hirer has failed to pay the agreed rate in a reasonable time.
Variations
25. The terms of hire agreement may only be varied by mutual consent in writing or electronically with all parties involved.
Notice Period
26. Both parties at any time may serve a notice period as agreed on the booking form to determine this agreement and thus withdraw from the hire agreement of the Premises
Additional Security Provisions
27. The Hirer must ensure that all health and safety and fire regulations as well as safeguarding procedures incorporating DBS checks are adhered to by all persons using/attending the Premises during the period of hire.
28. The Hirer must not bring or cause or permit to be brought into the Premises any illegal or dangerous equipment, materials or substances.
29. The Hirer must ensure that internet use at the Premises is undertaken in accordance with Park Centre’s internet use policies from to time in force.
INSURANCE ARRANGEMENTS Hirers Insurance – Indemnity Clause
Injury to persons or property
The Hirer shall indemnify Park Centre against all claims for damages, compensation and/or costs in respect of:
i) bodily injury or illness to third parties, and/or
ii) damage to third party property caused by, or arising out of, or being incidental to the Hirer’s use of the Premises.
The Hirer shall effect adequate insurance to cover this liability with a minimum limit of indemnity of £5 million (£5m) but in the event of activities which may be assessed as high-risk an indemnity of £10 million (£10m) may be required.
The Hirer shall effect adequate insurance to cover this liability.
Damage to Premises and Equipment
The Hirer shall be responsible for the loss of or damage to the Premises and contents therein, which is the property of Park Centre, except when loss or damage to the Premises or contents is as a result of the negligence of Park Centre.
The Hirer shall effect adequate insurance in respect of such loss or damage.
Hirer’s Insurance
If non-commercial hirers experience difficulties in arranging Public Liability Insurance with a Limit of Indemnity of at least £5 million (the lowest limit acceptable for use of Park Centre Premises) Please contact info@parkcentre.org.uk
